  • Provided research support for multiple studies in the translational medical research labs of Dr. Joe DeRisi, Dr. Michael Wilson, and the Rapid Response team at Chan Zuckerburg Biohub aimed to improve patient diagnostics in infectious diseases by utilizing next-generation sequencing (NGS), in addition to, utilizing phage display technologies for novel antigen discovery for autoimmune diseases.
  • Developed laboratory specific SOPs and taught protocols and techniques to collaborating doctors, scientists, and data scientists locally and with international collaborators.
  • Planned and launched large research projects for both collaborators and in-house laboratories to aid in large research studies.

  • Worked daily with BSL-2 bio-specimens, including CSF, brain tissue, and blood used for pathogen discovery research which involves practicing HIPAA compliancy.
  • Prepared hundreds of NGS libraries to date from bio-specimen sample to sequencer-ready.
  • Independently planned and executed technical research experiments to aid in large-scale projects with collaborating doctors, scientists, and data scientists locally and with international collaborators.
  • Performed independent experiments to support, troubleshoot, optimize and improve workflow of experiments and protocols. 
  • Improved, compiled, and write laboratory SOPs.
  • Trained incoming laboratory personnel including technicians, graduate students, post-docs, doctors, principal investigators, and team leaders on SOPs and the use of new instruments.
  • Established a biobank and database for studies, and regularly maintain, curate, and manage inventory of 300 samples in 2015 to well over 2000 samples to date.
  • Collaborated with vendors to improve and automate workflow of bio-specimen handling and processing.
